ACC adapts fully managed hands-on labs by CloudLabs to deliver job-driven curriculums and increase student employability rates

Overview

Austin Community College, founded in 1973, is a public community college in Austin, Texas. The institution stands out with its 100+ study programs and a distinctive mission, providing open-door access to affordable college-level education. ACC aimed to adopt improved methods in its course curriculum to keep up with fast-evolving cloud technologies. However, the creation and customization of course content, along with the maintenance of attendees’ AWS cloud accounts (quota allocation and budget restriction), was an initial challenge. The management also wanted automation to thrive and ease the learning process. Spektra’s CloudLabs team was fast and diligent in creating and delivering pre-configured labs. The college was introduced to fully managed, automated, customizable labs that are ready to deploy and secure, backed by 24/7 support.

The Collaboration between CloudLabs and Austin Community College turned out to be meaningful for the latter in multiple ways. The college received:

  • Comprehensive assistance with lab content creation and enabling custom restrictions per lab, reducing chances of lab downtime and unnecessary expenses.
  • Students got access to Amazon SageMaker, Amazon Textractc, Amazon Comprehend, DP-200, AI-100, DP-100, etc, ML services and labs.
  • Dedicated support in the creation and maintenance of attendees’ AWS cloud accounts – monitoring subscription charges, lab costs, resource exhaustion, etc.
  • Real-time query resolution for all lab-related instances 24/7 by an experienced team.
